Guest post: The poetry of the Italian football system

I have written a detailed article for David Bevan over at The Seventy Two, it is part of a series of articles by some great writers covering the lower league structures and nuances in countries across the world.

The Seventy Two is an independent website offering opinion on the Football League. This means an in-depth look at individual clubs in the Championship, League One and League Two instead of the strong Premier League focus that can be found on many English football sites.

Please go and give it 10 minutes of your time, I hope you’ll enjoy it.

Contributions are still being accepted to the series for any countries which have not yet been covered, so if you fancy putting your pen to good use why not send one in?

Skrtel: Ronaldo, Real Madrid second to no one
Liverpool center-back Martin Skrtel has declared Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid the best player and club respectively ahead of their Champions League tie with the La Liga powerhouse.
“For me, Ronaldo is the best in the world, but everyone knows the Real players – in my mind they are the best team in the world, so yeah, it is a challenge for us as a team now,” said Skrtel, as quoted by reliable Agen Bola
“You play Real Madrid in the Champions League, of course it’s a real challenge.”
“This is what we play for. The Champions League is the best competition in the world, because you face the best players in the world. It’s a great game, and we will do our best to show we’re able to compete with the best, and I believe we can get a result against them.”
